My Story
With a teaching career now spanning 30 years, I have honed my skills as a tutor and mentor and have in excess of 20,000 hours teaching experience. I have guided both young and adult learners on their Welsh language journey.
Originally from Llanbedr near Harlech, I began my Welsh teaching career in Cardiff during the 1990s. I embarked on part-time tutoring in 1994 and discovered a passion for teaching Welsh to adults. This experience fueled my ambition, leading me to earn a BA(Ed) degree in 1999 and to pursue a teaching career.
With 17 years of teaching and head of department experience in Cardiff high schools, my expertise is well-established. Since 2017, I have dedicated myself to teaching Welsh exclusively to adults, seamlessly transitioning between online and face-to-face instruction to cater to diverse learning preferences.
My teaching approach is adaptable and effective, tailored to suit each learner's unique style. I ensure a personalized and engaging educational experience by adjusting the pace, content and exercises to match students' progress and preferences. At the core of my teaching philosophy is clear communication. I excel in explaining complex grammar concepts simply, enabling students to grasp the intricacies of the Welsh language. My attentiveness and support foster a friendly environment that encourages questions and constructive feedback, cultivating optimal conditions for growth and achievement.
As a native speaker with excellent grammatical knowledge, I can navigate the subtle nuances of the Welsh language effortlessly. Beyond instruction, I share valuable insights into Wales' customs, traditions, and practices, showcasing my passion for the cultural aspects of the language.
I left Cardiff in 2022 and now live on the glorious LlÅ·n Peninsula. When not teaching I enjoy cooking, photography and walking the hills and beaches around my home in Pwllheli.
